1.) Do you realize you may be related to Nicole Kidman, Reba McEntire, Ron Weasley from Harry Potter, and the Wendy’s girl? If you have red hair, you are! That’s according to research from a DNA testing company in Scotland, which claims everyone with red hair is distantly related. For a child to have red hair, both parents have to have the red hair recessive gene. If you have red hair, you’re a direct descendant of the first person with red hair. Only about 0.06% of people worldwide have red hair. The highest concentration is in Scotland, at 13% redheads, with only 2% to 4% of Americans having naturally red hair.
2.) It’s been a yearly tradition since 1983, but no more. Hawaiian Tropic has announced it is canceling their annual bikini contests. The contest, which will be held through the brand’s Facebook page, will ask contestants to fill out a character profile with the aim of finding the “woman who best embodies everything Hawaiian Tropic now stands for — beauty, confidence, style, enjoying the sun and keeping skin healthy.
3.) Saturday night in Richmond, NASCAR driver Juan Pablo Montoya will be driving with a new sponsor. This weekend, the number 42 car will be sponsored by Depends, the adult diapers. Normally Montoya is sponsored by Target. But the chain store offers a racing program to their suppliers. Entry into that program, plus some extra money, gets them one race as the primary sponsor of a car, which is why sometimes you'll see the Target car and other times it'll be a Polaroid car, Gillette car, or some other product that Target frequently sells. This week, Depends paid the extra bit and they're on the car.
