1.)     You would probably think the opposite, but a new study has found that couples who split housework are 50% more likely to divorce than couples in which the woman does most of the housework.     A Norwegian study entitled “Equality in the Home” discovered the more housework the husband does, the higher the divorce rate climbs.     But the researchers say this is not necessarily a cause and effect situation, but more a sign of modern attitudes.    So men shouldn’t quit helping out around the home and expect their marriage to improve.

2.)     Breast Cancer Awareness Month begins today.     In honor of that, JC Penny is giving away free haircuts and styles to all breast cancer survivors throughout the month.     And, JC Penny will also donate a dollar for every free haircut and style they do this month to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.     Here in the low country, there are JC Penny Salons at both the Citadel and Northwoods Malls, as well as the Cross Creek Mall in Beaufort.

3.)     There’s a new world record pumpkin.     Over the weekend at The All New England Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off at the Topsfield Fair in Massachusetts Steve Geddes of Boscawen, New Hampshire set a world record on Saturday with his 1,843½ pound pumpkin.    He held that record for only about 24 hours when Ron Wallace or Greene, Rhode Island broke that record with the world’s first 1-ton pumpkin.    Wallace’s pumpkin officially weighed in at 2,009 pounds.
