1.)     In the last 4 presidential elections, the candidate Halloween Mask sales have correctly predicted the outcome of the election.    In 1996 Clinton outsold Dole, while Bush outsold both Al Gore and John Kerry.    4 years ago Obama masks outsold McCain masks.    According to the two biggest Halloween stores in our country, BuyCostumes.com and Spirit Halloween Stores, President Obama masks are out selling Mitt Romney masks.    BuyCostumes.com has sold 28% more Obama masks while Spirit has him at 38% more.


2.)     Thanks to an internet prank, a school for the deaf in Massachusetts that won a contest to have a Taylor Swift concert at their school has been disqualified for the way it received its votes.    This week, there is good news for the Horace Mann School of the Deaf.   Taylor Swift donated $10,000 dollars to the school, which was matched by two sponsor companies, and then two additional companies for a total of $50,000.    Plus, VH1’s Save the Music is providing the school with $10,000 in instruments.    And finally, though she won’t be performing on campus, Swift is giving each student at the school a ticket to her next local show.


3.)     The newest smoking regulation has to do with the workplace, but it’s not about smoking at work.    According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, as of this week, the city of Delray Beach, Florida, has instituted a new policy prohibiting the city from hiring employees who regularly smoke or use other tobacco products.   The decision was made to save money, as smokers can cost their employers as much as $12,000 per year, thanks to costs related to health and disability. Tobacco-using employees who had already been hired are exempt from the new policy.
