1.) Cars are getting lighter, so you’d think that would result in better fuel economy. But American drivers are getting heavier, so we aren’t seeing the gas savings. The Department of Energy says an extra 100 pounds lowers a vehicle’s miles per gallon capacity by up to 2 percent. So while automakers are using less steel and lighter plastics to reach higher fuel standards, some of those efficiencies are lost because more than a third of Americans are obese. According to the Allstate Blog, those obese Americans are helping to waste more than one billion gallons of gas each year.

3.) Laila Fitzgerald is a baby who has a very special, and unexpected birth date. Her mom, 26 year old Katie Dermiah went into labor 8 days early and last Thursday gave birth to a healthy Lalia in Des Moines, Iowa. The 8 pound 9 ounce baby was born on October 10th at 1:14 in the afternoon. Since 1:14 is 13:14 in military time, the 8 pound 9 ounce baby was born on 10-11-12 at 13:14.
