1.) Sometimes you bite that hot slice of pizza or sip your hot cup of coffee because you simply can’t wait a few minutes for it to cool, and your tongue pays the price. Now your impatience may be rewarded. A team of scientists at the University of Texas at Austin have created tongue strips that immediately relieve the pain you get from burning your tongue on hot foods. The strips work just like those breath strips, but don't do anything for your breath. It might be a while before we can buy them though, as the team says they have to test them on people before they are ready to be sold in stores.
2.) We learned this week that Beyonce will be performing the halftime show at this season’s Super Bowl. But the celebrity who has starred in more Super Bowl commercials than anyone else may not be featured in the big game this February. Because Go Daddy dot com is about to announce the hiring of a new ad agency, racing star Danica Patrick may not be back. She’s been a part of 22 Go Daddy commercials since 2007, and 10 Super Bowl ads, more than any other star, including Michael Jordan and Cindy Crawford. She earns an estimated million dollars a year in her association with Big Daddy.
3.) Is your pet ready for the big time? This weekend, representatives from The Late Show with David Letterman will be conducting auditions for the show’s “Stupid Pet Tricks.” To be considered, your trick must be fun, unique and safe, plus your pet must perform voluntarily and be treated humanely. All types of animals are welcome to audition this Sunday afternoon at Red’s Ice House on Shem Creek. Registration starts at Noon with the tricks beginning at 1. Spectators are welcome.
