1.) Today was supposed to be a day that Google took the tech world by storm with its Android event. Instead, it’s a storm that has cancelled the Google event. It was expected this morning in New York City that Google would detail its next version of Android, and rumors were it would also announce a new Nexus phone made by LG and a new Nexus 10 tablet made by Samsung. Facebook also cancelled two big product announcements it had scheduled to make in New York City thanks to Hurricane Sandy.
2.) If you’re a woman, you can add 10 years to your life. A new study which followed women over 50 for 12 years, found that smokers were 3 times more likely to die in the following years than non-smokers. Quitting early can make all the difference. Women who quit smoking before age 40, avoided more than 90% of the increased smoking death risk, while women who stopped smoking before age 30 reduced smoking-related death chances by 97%.
3.) Your heart races faster, your breathing is heavier, you may even sweat. It all happens if you’re watching a scary horror movie. So it would make sense you’re burning calories. What’s the best movie to watch this Halloween to lose weight? Researchers at the University of Westminster measured subjects watching films and discovered that you‘ll burn the most calories - 184 - while watching “The Shining.” Second on their list of top 10 calorie-burning horror movies was “Jaws,” at 161 calories, followed by “The Exorcist” at 158 calories.
