1.)     You can enjoy a free taco today thanks to Angel Pagan.    If you don’t know who he is, he plays in the outfield for the World Series champion San Francisco Giants.    Each year during the fall classic, Taco Bell has a promotion where if a player steals a base, everyone in the country gets a free taco.     Pagan stole 2nd base during game 2 so we can all enjoy a free Doritos Locos Taco between 2 and 6 this afternoon.   No other purchase is necessary for you to enjoy your free taco.

2.)     Millions of Americans in the northeast are without power today.     If you lose power at your house, how long will your food stay safe?   The USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service advised you to you’re your refrigerator and freezer doors closed as much as possible to maintain the cold temperature.    But, even if unopened, your refrigerator will only keep food safely cold for about four hours.   A full freezer will hold the temperature for about 48 hours if full, 24 hours if half full.     As a general rule, if the temperature in the thermometer in the freezer reads 40 degrees Fahrenheit or below, the food is safe and can be refrozen.

3.)     Among the world’s many, many problems, word is that Sweden is running low on garbage.    Sweden converts two million tons of waste to heat and electricity every year.   Right now, only about 4% of the nation’s trash ends up in landfills which is not enough to keep the power flowing.    So the country has recently begun importing garbage from Norway, and is talking with Bulgaria, Romania and Italy about taking their trash as well.       Here in the United States about 66% of our 250 million tons of trash generated each year ends up in landfills.
