1.) What’s the cost of an average workplace romance? A new study is estimating just over $100,000. Some of that cost is from lost productivity by the parties involved. Another element that adds to the tab is the money spent to hire a new employee when someone quits after a break-up. And, sometimes there can be expenses from legal issues which come up. But, that doesn’t discourage office romances, as 75% of people say they’ve at least considered it, and 54% have had one.
2.) Inspired by “Fifty Shades of Grey,” a new cookbook comes out tomorrow which follows the adventures of Miss Chicken, a young free-range bird, from raw innocence to golden brown ecstasy. Like Anastasia Steele, Miss Chicken finds herself at the mercy of a dominating man, in this case, a wealthy, sexy, and very hungry chef.
The “Fifty Shades of Chicken” includes recipes like Dripping Thighs, Sticky Chicken Fingers, Bacon-Bound Wings, Mustard-Spanked Chicken, and more.
3.) It costs about $56,000 a year to attend college at Duke University, but what does that money get you? Among the courses being offered is “California Here We Come: The OC & Self-Aware Culture of 21st Century America” – a class on the TV show “The OC.” The course description says the class will “explore the ‘hyper self-awareness’ unique to ‘The OC’ and analyze Californian exceptionalism and singularity in history and popular culture, girl culture, 21st century suburban revivalism, the indie music scene, the meta-series and more. Josh Schwartz, the shows creator, tweeted a copy of the course description with the message “I think I could pass.”
