1.)     Getting lots of likes and comments from friends on Facebook could be a reason that you’re putting on weight – your sitting in front of your computer or on your smart device and not exercising.    But, social media can help you lose weight as well.     According to research done at the University of South Carolina, Twitter could help you shed a few pounds.     The study discovered the support and accountability provided by posting to the social networking site made a difference in how much weight people lost.    While the two groups in the study — one that tweeted and one that didn’t — lost the same amount of weight during the trial, the individuals within the Twitter group who posted the most also lost the most weight.

2.)     A reminder to Redbox users – the handicapped parking spaces are not designed for you.    Consumer blog Consumerist has called out people who think, since they’re just pulling up for a minute or two while returning or renting a movie, that it’s okay to take those handicapped spots.    The blog points out, not only is it illegal, but it’s rude as well.   Plus, you never know who might be watching.     A TV station in Ohio decided it would turn Redbox handicap parkers into a story and busted customers using the spots in front of a CVS.

3.)     Fall out over the Newtown shooting has now expanded to Groupon.   The on-line daily deals site has dropped all current and future gun-related deals.     The Los Angeles Times is reporting because of pressure from customers, all shooting range, conceal-and-carry and clay shooting deals have been suspended while it "reviews internal standards."     Groupon joins several other firms that have backed away from gun-related businesses in the wake of the Sandy Hook school shooting.
