1.) If your computer is running slow today, it might be because of a new copyright enforcement system. Five participating internet service providers will start the controversial anti-piracy program today, each launching their version of the Copyright Alert System on different days throughout the week. It is possible you might have to complete educational programs if you are violating copyrights. The CAS is an “educational” service designed to combat causal piracy. While service providers are not required to cut service to repeat pirates, it will issue escalating punishments to suspected pirates, severely reducing their connection speeds after five or six offenses.
2.) When you get to work today, before you fill your mug with that first cup of coffee, consider this. According to a research study done at the University of Arizona, 90 percent of office coffee mugs are covered in germs. And, it gets even worse because 20% of office mugs carry fecal bacteria. The biggest problem is that, at the office, most people tend to clean their cups with bacteria-laden sponges or scrub brushes instead of a dishwasher. That bacteria transfers to the mug and can live there for three days.
3.) If you’re searching for that special person, forget Facebook and on-line dating sites. If you really want to meet someone, get a dog. It turns out that one in four dog owners have met dates while walking their dogs. A third have at least made new friends. And, we trust dogs' people-meters, too. Forty percent of dog owners say they would think twice if their pets and dates didn't get along.
