1.) Is life expectancy for women in the United States falling? Women have long outlived men, with the average life span for a baby girl born today at 81, for a baby boy it’s 76. But data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has shown women's longevity is not growing at the same pace as men's. The latest research found that women age 75 and younger are dying at higher rates than previous years in nearly half of the nation's counties — many of them rural and here in the South. The leading theories on this blame higher smoking rates, obesity, and less education, but several experts say they simply don't know why.
2.) Tomorrow is the official release date for the new Cool Ranch-flavored Doritos Locos Tacos. But if you just can’t wait, head to Taco Bell today. According to Taco Bell’s Facebook page, the new Cool Ranch DLT, will be available today. Taco Bell’s profile photo now has the 3-6-2013 date, with the message “fans can buy them early – just ask”
3.) Chefs around the planet are celebrating a new world record today. In Norwich, England, students and staff at the Thorpe St. Andrews School entered the record book and at the same time helped raise money for charity. 870 people took to the school’s tennis court to set the record for most chefs’ hats thrown into the air simultaneously. This broke the previous mark of 600 set in Belgium just 14 months ago.
