1.) There may be a new way to detect stomach cancer that will be much easier than the current method which involves a probe and a camera being passed through the mouth and down the throat in order to do a stomach biopsy. The new test, which is 90% accurate, is based on your breath. The BBC reports that stomach cancer gives off a signature smell due to certain organic compounds, and the test can detect them—and even differentiate between early- and late-stage cancer. This stomach cancer test is being further researched in a larger study.
2.) Like a lot of people, Diane and Kerry Carmichael bought a Powerball lottery ticket last Wednesday night. Unlike almost everyone else, the couple won the 2nd place prize and scored a million dollar jackpot. Which is certainly good news for the retired Arizona couple since they have only two payments left to receive from the $2.5 million dollar lottery jackpot they won in 1995. They bought that winning ticket at the same store almost two decades ago and have been receiving $125,000 a year from that win, and will receive their final check from that jackpot at the end of next year.
3.) If you’re interested in getting a woman’s phone number, ask her on a sunny day. A French psychologist asked five attractive men to hit on 500 total women with the goal of getting her phone number. The guys were much more likely to get her number if the skies were clear and sunny rather than full of clouds.
