1.) A disabled California man who spent a hellish half an hour stuck on Disneyland's "It's a Small World" ride as the theme song blared over and over again has been awarded $8,000 in damages. The man, was left in the "Goodbye Room" when the ride broke down and other riders were evacuated from the boat. The man's lawyer says his client suffers from panic attacks and high blood pressure—and a full bladder made the situation even worse. The judge awarded the man $4,000 for "pain and suffering" and another $4,000 for a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
2.) The marriage rate in the country of Qatar is falling, which has the government concerned, particularly because of the reason for the decline. Would be grooms, who traditionally pay for their weddings, simply can’t afford it. The government has rolled out a series of initiatives, including financial help for newlyweds, free wedding tents, and the construction of wedding halls that can be used at no charge, to help preserve the institution of marriage. In Qatar, people expected you to invite them to your wedding, but it’s not an option to say, 'I want to have a small wedding' because people might be insulted.
3.) There is a discussion going on in our country about the use of drones. In India, they are using drones, not to kill terrorists, but poachers. Officials are deploying the aircraft to help save the one-horned rhinos as the protected animals are in a national park too massive to effectively patrol on the ground. Plus, the Wall Street Journal reports park rangers also now have automatic weapons and the authority to kill poachers in the line of duty, a development that has alarmed human rights groups but has the rangers sounding defiant. A ranger was quote as saying "I'm not answerable to anyone to protect the rhinos. I will not let anyone harm them."
