1.) Everyone knows you shouldn’t drink and drive, but just how much can you legally drink and still get behind the wheel of a vehicle? Currently, the legal blood alcohol content limit is .08 percent, meaning a 180 pound man could have up to 4 drinks in an hour, and still legally operate a vehicle. ABC News is reporting that the National Transportation Safety Board has voted to lower its recommended legal blood alcohol content limit to 0.05%. Most industrialized nations already adhere to the 0.05% standard. The change would mean that 180 pound man could consumer only 2 or 3 drinks in an hour. The NTSB says the change will save 500 to 800 lives a year.
2.) We’ve all heard we need to go easy on the salt, but surprising findings of a new study from the prestigious Institute of Medicine say not too easy. The report concluded that people who follow the advice of groups such as the American Heart Association and limit intake to 1,500 milligrams a day, or about half a teaspoon, may actually be doing more harm than good. Current US dietary guidelines say most people should cut it off at 2,300mg a day. However, the IoM researchers found no benefits in going below that threshold.
3.) Remember Yankee Candles' line of masculine candles, meant to liberate your man cave from the oppression of your significant other's preferred floral scents? Well, they're back, and, supposedly, better than ever. Yankee Man Candles II keeps the grassy Riding Mower, the leathery First Down, and the musky Man Town from the original series. However, they’ve replaced the 2x4 scent with the far more mouthwatering Mmm, Bacon! and the buttered popcorn-inspired Movie Night.
