1.) Is the desk in your boss’s office large or small? A study at the Columbia Business School has found a correlation between expansive physical surrounds and dishonesty. Someone sitting behind a big desk can feel all high and mighty, which effects posture, and posture influences behavior in subtle, yet substantial ways that we don’t completely understand. In this case, it makes some white collar workers feel above the law. So, in some cases, the bigger the boss’s desk, the more likely he or she is to lie, steal and cheat.
2.) If you’re worried about the government spying on you, you might want to focus that energy on your friends with smart devices, particularly the iPhone. There’s a new app call "Heard" which makes it so your phone is always recording audio. After 5 minutes the audio is automatically deleted, but you can opt to save it. So any conversation you have could be recorded. The initial app is free, but it will cost you to extend the recording time to the full five minutes. The app is only available for the iPhone, but has been taken down at the Apple Store because of a technical issue. Apple says it will be back up soon.
3.) The first alcoholic beverage inspired and created by users of social media is now on sale. The British beer company Brew Dog created the drink that came out of fan votes to determine everything from its name and style to alcohol count. #MashTag is a 7.5% American Brown Ale, made with New Zealand hops and aged on hazelnuts and oak chips. Fans voted on the name from a list of provided suggestions and the company also encouraged fans to design the bottle label.
