1.) Tomorrow is “Skip Starbucks Saturday.” Moms Demand Action For Gun Sense in America is sponsoring the boycott to pressure the coffee giant to change its current gun policy. Right now, Starbucks allows customers to carry loaded guns into Starbucks stores, in the 43 states where permitted by state law. A spokesperson for the group says they hope to collect 25,000 signatures on petitions to ban guns at all U.S. Starbucks locations and then present those to Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz.
2.) There’s a good chance you use your smartphone camera for taking photos, many of which end up on Facebook. But if that’s too amateur for you, Canon’s got a camera that you need. The company is taking pre-orders right now online for the Facebook ready PowerShotN. The camera enables one-click sharing to Facebook using a button with the social network's logo, using built-in Wi-Fi, which also allows users to upload images to PCs, iOS devices, and Android devices. The PowerShotN will be available in September.
3.) The running of the bulls comes to America beginning tomorrow. The Great Bull Run takes place at the Virginia Motor Sports Park in Richmond. This will be an American adaptation of the famous Spanish running of the bulls. In the U.S. version, participants have to buy insurance before braving the horns and hooves of bulls chasing them down a quarter-mile strip of asphalt. The bulls, weighing in at 1,000 pounds, can hit speeds of more than 20 miles per hour. About 5,000 people have paid up to $50 to enter the Richmond event. The next run takes place in Atlanta on October 19th.
