1.) The final holiday weekend of the summer is a big travel weekend, but AAA is predicting the number of Americans traveling this Labor Day will be at the highest level since the recession. 34.1 million Americans are expected to travel, just over 29 million driving, with 2 ½ million taking to the air. The majority of people will take a trip at least 50 miles from home, with the top destinations for the weekend being Las Vegas, New York and Chicago.
2.) If you know someone who is always late, it could be they are suffering from Chronic Lateness Syndrome. Although you won’t find it in the DSM5, which is the manual of all psychiatric disorders. But it was diagnosed by a doctor in Scotland treating 57 year old Jim Dunbar of Scotland. His doctor says the condition comes from the same part of the brain as ADHD. Basically, Jim can't properly focus on how long things are going to take so he's always late whether he's going to work or meeting friends or whatever.
3.) The 4th of July fireworks that were rained out in Summerville have been moved to this holiday weekend. Gahagan Park will be open from 5 to 9:30 on Sunday, with the fireworks scheduled for just after sundown. Bring your blankets and chairs, but not your cooler or your pets. Concessions will be sold, but grilling, pets and personal fireworks are not allowed.
