1.) Blue is the color to wear to work or school today. Today is Blue Shirt Day World Day of Bullying Prevention. The event is sponsored by STOMP Out Bullying,™ a national anti-bullying and cyberbullying program for kids and teens. Its initiative is to bring awareness, and educates kids and teens, parents and schools about the issue. You can learn more about the organization by visiting their website - www.STOMPOutBullying.org.
2.) Not only can a child have two mommies or two daddies, now a child can have more than two parents … at least in California. According to the LA Times, a new bill signed in to law is intended to recognize a broader range of family structures in legal cases, like those where a same-sex couple shares financial or custody responsibilities with a biological parent of the opposite sex. However, this will only allow a judge to recognize more than two parents when he or she finds that not doing so would be harmful to the child.
3.) They’ve outlawed marshmallow fighting in San Diego. While you wouldn’t think that could be a big problem, the Ocean Beach neighborhood town council passed a resolution requesting police enforce laws against littering and use of harmful objects. It’s all to prevent the annual 4th of July Marshmallow Fight. Officials are also asking local businesses not to promote the event by selling marshmallows, marshmallow-launching devices and paraphernalia.
