1.) Is America above or below average? According to the just released OECD Study of Adult Skills, the United States ranks 16th out of the 23 First World countries. Japan was ranked as the smartest country in the study, based on literacy levels, math skills, and problem solving skills. Finland, the Netherlands, Australia and Sweden followed Japan as the smartest nations. The U.S. finished ahead of Austria, Cyprus, Poland, Ireland, France, as well as Spain and Italy, who tied for last.
2.) Are you average when it comes to checking your phone? After compiling data on more than 150,000 users, Locket, an Android app that pays users in exchange for placing ads on their lockscreens, the average user checks his or her phone 110 times per day. That means you’re checking your phone 7 times an hour. The most active time to be unlocking your phone is in the evening, between 5 and 8PM.
3.) While only 8% of Americans approve of the job that our Congress is doing, there are things that we dislike more than our elected representatives in Washington D.C. Public Policy Polling asked people whether they had a higher or lower opinion of Congress that other notorious people and things. Among the things we like more than Congress – the IRS, jury duty, dog poop, the DMV and hemorrhoids. But, included in the things that we respect less than Congress are twerking, Charles Manson, Honey Boo Boo, Syria, Anthony Weiner and Miley Cyrus.
