1.) The bickering in Washington has inspired Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz to encourage our nation’s political leaders to come together. So he’s giving away free coffee to his customers who will set an example of how to do it. Through Friday, the coffee chain is offering a free tall brewed coffee to any customer who buys another person a beverage at Starbucks. The CEO wrote in a memo to his employees that this is a way to help fellow citizens "support and connect with one another, even as we wait for our elected officials to do the same for our country."
2.) If you’ve been struggling to lose weight, you’re certainly not alone. British businesswoman Alex Fontaine has tried a variety of ways to lose weight, but she has had her “eureka moment.” It was when a rogue skunk ruined a buffet by emitting a foul smell. Realizing that our appetites are linked to smells, Fontaine developed a smelly spray to prevent her from eating sweet or fatty foods. Simply spray some “Stink Yourself Slim” on to unhealthy foods, so you won’t want to eat them because of the smell. According to Fontaine, this method of dieting has worked and she has lost over 20 pounds.
3.) Will women in Saudi Arabia be able to drive soon? It seems to be closer to a reality. This year, the King appointed 30 women to the council that is the closest thing to a parliament in the middle eastern nation. Now, women on the council are urging the king finally to allow women to drive. A proposal will now be considered by the council's Transport Committee, which could send it on to the Transport Ministry in a few weeks. However, a government official also recently warned that women driving could affect their ovaries.
