1.) Do you think your boyfriend or husband is spending too much time with his friends? It turns out that’s a good thing for him to do, if you believe the research done at Oxford University in England. The study concluded that men who hang out with their friends twice a week are healthier, happier, more generous, and get sick less often than men who don't spend enough time with their friends. The researchers say hanging with your friends is good for your mental health, which translates to physical health. One thing the study didn’t say was whether it was healthy for women to hang out with their friends as well.
2.) If you count housework as exercise, experts say you may need to rethink that. A new study published this month in the BMC Public Health journal finds that gardening, vacuuming and cleaning shouldn't count toward your 150-minute weekly totals of moderate to vigorous exercise. While vacuuming or sweeping floors can get your heart pumping, your calorie burn pales in comparison to activities such as cycling or running. Thirty minutes of vacuuming burns 130 calories; 30 minutes of cycling on a stationary bike burns 400 calories.
3.) If you feel bad about going away because of what you’re leaving behind, you’ll be happy to know that you can now send your stuffed animal on vacation. A Japanese travel company has vacation packages that cost between 20 and 55 dollars. They say owners of the stuff animals live vicariously through them and feel as they are also traveling when they see their cuddly toys jetting off to luxurious places. If you’re interested, you can keep up to date on the adventures of these stuffed toys on their Facebook page.
