1.) If you know the “Thriller” dance, you can take part in a world record this weekend. Just in time for Halloween, tomorrow afternoon at 5, thousands in cities around the globe will learn the choreography and perform a simultaneous worldwide dance to the Michael Jackson hit. Last year, more than 9,600 dancers at 181 events in 21 countries took part. The event will be streamed live on ThrillTheWorld.com.
2.) What’s the next thing to be banned at children’s birthdays? Blowing out candles on their birthday cake. Australia’s National Health and Medical Research Council came has put out guidelines for childcare agencies with new hygiene rules. Among the changes is a ban on blowing out candles on a communal birthday cake. Instead, parents are encouraged to send a separate cupcake to place a candle on to be shared with others. Before you think this is too crazy, consider that a recent study by Clemson University researchers found 183 bacteria on a birthday cake before the candles were blown out. After, they identified nearly 3,000 bacteria.
