Whew, what a relief! I'm pleased to announce that the giant Vermont Goat Manure Fire has been extinguished. A goat milker (Sorry, a "Goat Lactation Professional") noticed that the farm's 120 cubic foot manure pile was on fire. Workers managed to extinguish most of the fire, but the fire department was called in to finish the fun job.
Residents from several miles away report the smell was "very strong" and "disconcerting." This is a serious problem that needs more discussion in this country. Did you know that each year, nearly .000000006 percent of goat manure is consumed by otherwise preventable fires? Please remember to keep a certified and inspected fire extinguisher near your giant goat manure pile. Do it for the kids. Do it for the future.
