You know him for his hit song "Steal Away," but Robbie Dupree also has the smash "Hot Rod Hearts," and was nominated for the 1980 Best New Artist Grammy, losing out to Christopher Cross. He's part of the All Star Rock Tour 2011, and before making his was to the lowcountry, spend some time on the Y Morning Wake-Up. Listen to our 2 part interview and find out about how he got involved in the tour, what it's like to play with all of these 70s and 80s stars, how he became friends with Jimmy Fallon, and how, even though he's had multiple hits, he was included on VH1's "One Hit Wonders of the 80's" list.
The movie was a box office bust, that became a cult favorite, in large part, to an incredible movie soundtrack. That 1980's movie was "Eddie & The Cruisers," and the man behind that music was John Cafferty. The movie was set around 20 years after the "Eddie" was originally a star. Now today, almost 30 years after "On the Dark Side" became a huge hit, John Cafferty comes to the lowcountry as part of the All Star Rock Tour 2011, Saturday, July 23rd at Boone Hall Plantation. Listen in as Cafferty talks about the movie, his music, what he's doing these days, and what we can expect at the show in our Y Morning Wake-Up Podcast.
July 24th at Boone Hall Plantation, it's a fun night of 70's music with KC & The Sunshine Band and the Village People. KC, Harry Wayne Casey, was kind enough to call in and talk about the show, and his career, on the Y Morning Wake-Up. If you missed our conversation about what to expect at the concert, about his experience on American Idol, and remembering being on American Bandstand and hosting The Midnight Special, and even what he thinks about Facebook and texting, it's all included in our podcast of the interview, from July 22nd's Morning Wake-Up.
