- Today is Cyber Monday, the traditional beginning of the online Christmas shopping season -- when consumers return to work and spend their day ordering online. Some Cyber Monday facts:
• The first mention of Cyber Monday was in 2005.
• It's estimated that this year's Cyber Monday will be the biggest online shopping day of the year for the third year in a row: Americans are expected to spend $1.5 billion, up 20% from last year.
• Shop.org estimates that about 122 million Americans will shop online on Cyber Monday. That's only slightly less than the 147 million who shop in stores over the three-day Black Friday weekend.
