2013 Palmetto's Finest Schools awards, presented by the South Carolina Association of School Administrators – 5 schools received awards.      Four area schools were named Palmetto's Finest School Awards winners.
      Fort Dorchester Elementary and Ashley Ridge High in the Dorchester District 2 School District 
      Hanahan Middle and Marrington Middle School of the Arts in the Berkeley County School District.
The criteria included student achievement, instructional programs, professional learning communities, and school culture. In its 35th year, the awards are known as the most respected and coveted accolades among educators across the state.

Happy Birthday to Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame member James Taylor who turns 65 today.   James had only one hit during the 1980s, a song from 1985 that is today's "Lost 80s Classic"
