http://www.cnn.com/2017/05/19/health/instagram-worst-social-network-app-young-people-mental-health/What effect is social media having on teens and college age students?    A negative one, at least according to a new report by the Royal Society for Public Health in the UK.   Their #Status of Mind study survey almost 1,500 14 to 24 year olds, asking about how social media impacts issues like anxiety, depression, self-identity and body image.

Instagram, the image app that has over 700 million users worldwide, is number one in terms of negative impact, most notably among young women.      The report’s author says Instagram has young woman comparing themselves against photoshopped and filtered versions of reality.    Snapchat makes us feel the second worst, with Facebook third and Twitter fourth.     YouTube was the only social media platform to have an overall positive impact on young people’s mental health in this study.
